Bowls is a Game that can be Learnt in Minutes, but takes a Lifetime to Master

In 2025 Thaxted Bowling Club will be celebrating our 60th anniversary . We are a mixed club affiliated to E.C.B.A & E.C.W.B.A, and Bowls England with teams playing in the N.W.E.B.A.. Steeple Bumpstead Bowls League, and Essex & Herts Seniors League. We also play friendlies for the more social bowler and as well as our own club competitions throughout the season.

Our Club is open to all age groups, able and disabled. We provide a unique venue where everyone can enjoy the game of bowls whilst making and maintaining friendships along the way.

We have a six-rink lawn green and Clubhouse with a range of facilities. The Club House is fully accessible, with accessible toilets and disabled parking spaces

Monday Club Nights -  5.45 pm for a 6.00pm Start

There is a roll up every Monday evening for all club members, no matter what your level of experience.  Just turn up and you will be put into a team of 2, 3 or 4 depending on numbers.  These are friendly games, to help you practice or "keep your hand in".

Having said that, if you are a competitive person, we regularly publish individual results of the teams you are in, so you can see who has the highest score.  We also give an award at our Presentation Evening for the player with the highest score.

New members are very welcome and the Club encourages prospective members to come along and play on Monday evenings, at 6pm, with no requirement for 'the right kit' you just need a flat pair of shoes, we have plenty of bowls available to borrow for the evening. We have trained coaches who can offer a fun sound introduction to the game. Whether new to the game or an experienced player, come along and give us a try.

During the winter months there is an active Carpet Bowls Club and Card Club that use the facilities as well as other social events throughout the year.

You can contact the secretary or any member of the committee for further details.

We look forward to seeing you.
